I don't use consumables if not absolutely necessary and I exhausted all other options - because I might need them later... a time that usually never comes because I might need them later...
I collect books in every game... give me a home with a bookcase to display them all, not containers... ah... who am I kidding, I don't really care enough about maintaining digial homes... but I do keep the books and letters.
I really don't like using spell casters... because they are whimsey and crave too much attention (talking about gameplay)... and I hate that I need to learn their whole spellbooks to deal with them... but they are usefull little buggers....
Finally - style over substance... I care more about my characters fitting my vision/style than min-maxing the game.
