if I just need to spend 15 minutes to fetch some files from the web that will solve my problem I don't see why I would bother asking the devs to do it.
Maybe the OP didn't know about Cheat Engine, or the mods available on Nexus, or doesn't find them sufficient, or isn't comfortable with modding (I know a few folks who aren't, though it's almost beyond my comprehension, I've been messing with game files for so long now).
Or maybe they just wanted to vent.
