Honestly I've always disliked how Genasi is portrayed in that picture as well because it sets the level of diversion from ordinary humans too far in comparison to their description text. It's the kind of "diversion creep" which just makes every generalised depiction more and more different that's behind the whole drift of Tieflings from "people, but with weirdness" to "straight Hellboy knockoffs".

I don't mind players wanting their characters to be overt and colourful (literally, even ). I just want the default to be more down to earth to encourage the "there's countless of different ways this influence could manifest" mindset rather than it always being colour coded people.

One reason for no-horn tieflings (Aside from the ones mentioned already):

It allows more hair options to customize tieflings. The hairstyles they have not feels really limited compared to other races (and they are not as nice looking in my opinion). I did use a mod to unlock more hairstyles but the issue there is that so many clip badly with horns and it made me sad (Which likely explains why they have limited hairstyles, to avoid that sort of clipping).

The other hairstyles work with horned tieflings. You see them on npcs in the druid grove. Plus there is a mod, that allows you to use all hairstyles on your tiefling character (see my profile pic). So they work really well.
As for the topic: While I don't mind the horns, I was a bit confused in cc, when basically all tiefling subraces looked the same with some different color schemes. I remember Haer'Dalis and some other tiefling npcs in both computergames and pen & paper and they looked much more diverse. I would love to have more options for the tieflings.

...erm...horny tieflings? But I concur, the horns shouldn't be mandatory unless it's listed as a defining charcteristic of all tieflings. On thr other hand, providing yet more head models, will require more work and they may have other priorities.

I support leaving Tieflings as is. I have no complaints.

But I'm not going to argue with anyone asking for more options.
