Yes, after the goblin camp where you destroyed all the goblins, you can just sneak up and steal it after its resolution where the druids are no longer guarding it, at most, an old lady will ask you about it but you could just deceive her and said you don't know who took it, but don't give it to Mol, you should keep it for yourself as it buff your nature and animal handling ability just by having it in the inventory, and it could be used on Gale in case of emergency.
