One of the characters would not path out of a room and now will not move with the party. I have camped, quit the game and relaunched, made them lead, nothing works. They do not seem to be part of the party group anymore.

Has anyone encountered this?

Did you try pushing them? You have them chained together right? grab the portrait of chain them in bottom left.

The party concept of this game is broken. The character frames can be directly adjacent but not "chained" and you cant see the chains unless you grab one of them and drag them. Could be just about the dumbest idea ever for an RPG. Changing party order does not seem to actually do anything. No matter which of the character icons is in front they do not walk in that order. You can't reorder the frames easily. They just "chain" back to their original positions. Couple that with the camera angles that won't zoom out far enough to see anything, are locked in such a low angle as to be useless, or randomly zoom in to a wall and can't be changed and navigation in this game is a dumpster fire.

The following system in the game is currently very limited; it can only handle a certain number of independent creatures following you at once, and more than that simply get left behind, even when they are linked and chained properly. The easiest way to see this in action is to pick a class that can learn find familiar, then have each of your companions learn it as well - most can if you pick the right subclass. When everyone has a familiar out, no more than five creatures/characters will follow; the rest will just stand still and be left behind.

They need to be ashamed of themselves for selling this game at full price this broken. If they were so desperate for cash that they could not have put one more year of development in without going broke they probably should have looked for investors or gone broke. I will never buy anything from them again and I will make sure I let as many people as possible know how bad this is.

That's not true. I've had no problem with seven characters in a party. Four players, a pet, a familiar, and Halsin. The only current issue I came across was that the spider pet won't/can't use ladders. He can't go up at all. And if he's already up, and the party goes down, he ends up jumping and taking damage. I haven't actually tried with other pets, so I'm not sure if they have problems with ladders. Imps don't have the problem because they can fly.

There was an issue early on, where other characters wouldn't jump over gaps or barriers to follow you, but that has been fixed. And Astarion won't follow across water, but there is a reason for that. And even in that case, you can take control of him and make him cross and take the damage.

The game is in Early Access and probably won’t go into full release for a year. There is a big warning before you buy it letting you know it’s not finished and only a portion is currently playable.

From the Steam page:

“Will I enjoy Early Access?
You should not buy Baldur’s Gate 3 in Early Access if you want a polished experience.

Early Access gives you a chance at an early taste of what the gameplay will be like but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. While we did our best to remove the most annoying bugs and optimize the game as much as we could, there are still plenty of issues and it will take us time to fix them. Only buy the game now if you want an early look or if you want to participate in community feedback. Otherwise, you’re probably best off waiting until version 1.0 releases.”

Most developers do not charge full price for a game in early access. It seems that all of the positive reviews on Steam are from Larian fanboys. Reading deeper, even Larian's "finished" games are broken in many of the same ways. I am glad that I am under the play time to refund the game.

To be honest, refunding the game is probably a good idea in your case. If you cannot grasp what Early Access means or cannot be bothered to read the Steam page (and also judging from your last post), you would hardly be able to provide useful feedback.

Lots of Larian’s early games suffered from a serious case of “Euro-jank.” The quality of their games improved significantly when they started doing Early Access, hence, this game’s release strategy.

If the game isn’t for you that is fine, but you shouldn’t whine so much. Have some dignity.
