Hi all,

I managed eventually to beat Josephine and her Dwarves under the elven burial grounds, and picked up the two elven artefacts in the room with her. Being generally careless about money etc. I left the item she dropped behind and went back to the elf. He asked for 3, so I returned and looked around to find the third artefact. Not being able to, I looked up the quest and found that the item she dropped was the one to take.

So I tried, and couldn't. It seems that where I killed Josephine she dropped it right in a wall, or through the wall, or behind the cupboard at the bottom right of her small chambers. I can see the item with Alt, and I can even get the item's name to appear if I move the mouse pointer over the top middle of the cupboard or to the top right of the cupboard (intersecting with the wall) but I cannot pick it up.

I tried using a hex edit to move myself outside the wall, but couldn't pick it up from out there. I tried using a save game edit to give myself Telekinesis 5 but couldn't get it (either from inside or outside the walled area).

Does anyone have any idea how I might go about picking this up, because I don't have a recent save game (rapid finger on the quicksave after finally killing her ; ) and I'd kinda like to be able to finish the game...

Thanks.

Maybe you can try to reload before the fight if possible.

Otherwise try this
Fix missing objects (by Raze)

Read it carefully though.

Objects have dropped into a wall for me, too. The best in-game way to do this without resorting to editors or fixes is to simply dump one or two skillpoints into Telekinesis (Mage skill). Select this skill, stand as close to the object as possible, and right click on the item twice. It should be in your inventory afterwards. It worked for me several times, but I'm not sure if it will work for everyone all the time. Try it with a new savegame and see if it does. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

This happened to me on my first time through the game, and I lost about 8 hours trying to find the elusive 'third artifact' by wandering around the area and carefully looking for things I'd missed.

The only solution other than Raze's fix is indeed to reload an old save game, and kill Josie in a different place so that she drops the staff clear of the wall.

This is probably one of the most frustrating bugs in the whole game.
