Alistair was funny where gale is trying hard to be funny but never manages to be
It's the other way around for me. I found Alistair incredible dull and boring, whereas Gale is quite entertaining. And Gales friendship path is quite more interesting.
I don't really see a similarity between those characters. Gale has more in common with Dorian, if we are looking for a DA counterpart.
