Hi everyone - you know how how when you're playing computer game there's always that one silly thing that everyone else seems to have no trouble doing but it just confuses you and you just know that when you hear the answer you're going to bang your head on you desk?

Ok, so here's my question - how do lockpicks worke? I've got about a dozen in my inventory and 1 pt in lockpick skill. I can use the skill and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but I can't figure out the picks. I've trieequiping them and doubleclicking them and dragging them, but they never seem to get used in any way.

I wanted a fighter/thief character but I think my survivor instincts are weak.

thanks and cheers! (Fun game, Larian!)

Well, if the lockpick fails, you may not have enough pionts in that skill.
How to use it - select the skill on your skills, like you would a spell. Then right click by the door/chest, and it should work. But, if not, then you do need a higher level...

yes, not many doors and/or chesta have level 1, most have level 3 to 4, and some have 2 or 5.

Hi - thanks for your replies.

I guess I wasn't clear. It's not the skill "lockpick" that's confusing me - that works just fine.

What I don't understand are the lockpick objects. How do I use these things that are cluttering up my backpack and weighing me down? I have about 10 of them that I got from dead orcs, iirc. Are they just useless scenary, like stone bottles and plates and things?

thanks
Meghan

You talk about the lockpicks themself, right?
Well you need those to be able to use the lockpickskill. If you dont have lockpicks, you cant lockpick at all. I know if you have al ot of them, it can take up weight. Try this then: Drop some of them in a chest or box in a house. You can drop as may as you want by using the crl-key went you put them from one invetory to an other.

as you use your lockpicking skill the keys disappear from your inv.
and if you don't have any more lockpicks...
..you can't use that skill....till u get more...
...so go get more lockpicks......here take my car....[Linked Image]
