I'm on my 3rd appeal for a refund with Steam. I want to understand 2 things as it looks increasingly more likely that my $80 is going into the void.

You know what, I typed up a whole bunch of text for nothing, because I'm positive it wont make a single ounce of a difference. So just answer me this.

What assurances are there going to be around modding this game, top to bottom?

Specifically:

Can we change the default gear on enemies?
Can we change if an ability is an Action or Bonus Action?
Can we get into the guts of the combat system and remove all the extra logic which is currently in place around Advantage/Backstab?
Can we disable Barrelmancy?

I'm talking core function of the game as it stands right now. I'm not going to continue debating with people here on the merits of the current implementation, or if there is a 'need' to deviate away from a perfectly functional rule set.

I want to know if I go to the bother to learn how to mod this game, if I can hammer it into a shape that works for me.

The mod "D&D reworked" introduce dodge as an action.
It also rework disengage and hide, they are actions.
It also delete the highground / backstab.

Gear of ennemies is probably "easy".

I don't know if everything is possible, but it looks many things are.

I also see Sorcerer, Monk, Paladin, Bard, with what appears to be working mechanics. If we can remove a bunch of the extra stuff (definition for a barrel = dont explode?) then honestly fine. I used to write mods for NWN, if we need to do the same to make this right, so be it.

Please do it. You should start now so you could provide your mod to Larian.

Well, my 3rd refund request has been denied.

I'll never, ever buy an EA game again.

May as well start learning this system...

Ugh its all xml based? I mean maybe it will be far easier than anticipated but...I stare at XML all day already.

If you had gotten it on GOG they refund at anytime, no matter how long you played it. I gave up Steam a long time ago. Sorry your not enjoying it, good luck with your mod.

I think I even have a GOG account...thats an unfortunate realization.

Yup, and to top it all off, all their games are DRM free with a very generous return policy. I dropped Steam ages ago. I was so tired of their BS, their crazy always online to play your game etc. Or if you play more than 2 hours you can't return a game? I mean WTF is that? I still have my Steam account, and rarely I get a game on there, but only if it isn't available on GOG.

Mods : for those who do not know, they are found on the site Nexus Mods.

Nb : be advised mods can stop working after a patch. So wait a bit.

Yeah no worries on that, I'm just looking at digging into the files to see what points where and where properties are set.
