If people get enjoyment out of it based on a feature, then there's nothing wrong with it. Maybe the issue is that some groups just didn't get what they want out of the game. It happens, and you can't satisfy everyone. At the end of the day, those features you mention would be up to Larian to implement if they so choose, but if they didn't implement it, that wouldn't mean that they didn't listen, it could just be because they didn't want to or if there are things that have higher priority.
