==Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?

No, but if I had the finances for all of them, I probably would buy them all. smile

==How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?

Previous experience with a game developer's game. For example, if I liked Divine Divinity, I would be very interested in Beyond Divinity. Game forums are also a large influence. I don't know a huge amount of people outside of forums who like RPG's, so word of mouth rarely applies. I only read reviews to find out game mechanics and gameplay issues. I don't put any value on the actual review score.

==Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?

Only in single player, and I will generally play vanilla my first time through. For games like Morrowind, I do add a lot of gameplay mods such as book rotation.

==Do you use walk throughs?

I might look up something if I get really stuck; otherwise, no.

==Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?

Definitely.

==Do you prefer single character or party?

Single character. The less micromanaging, the better.

==Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?

Single player. I can play through slowly at my own speed. Other people seem to always want to rush around and do things as fast as possible.

1. that depends on the reviews, but i prefer rpgs to most other game genres
2. im always on the g4 site, looking for reviews for games ive seen commercials for
3. i NEVER use cheats in rpgs, its the most noobish thing anybody can do (plus most good rpgs dont have cheat codes anyway...)
4. i usually play a game through first, thten use a walkthrough to see what i missed
5. only if its for the pc and im aware of it. i dont have xbox live...
6. that depends on the combat. for turn based, gotta have a party. but if its real time, party members just get in the way and die.
7. multiplayer, unless the only people available are really stupid (though for some games, its impossible to be dumber than the AI)

If it has Square Enix on the cover then yes, if not then I'll have to read the back of the case to see if it takes my interest

I never listen to what the people doing the reviews say because 90% of the time I end up disagreeing with them i'll listen to what others have to say about it but I mostley just go into a shop look at the case see it's an RPG read the back & go up 2 the counter lol

HELL NO & i'd scorn any who do if you can't finish a game with your own skill alone then why are you bothering to play in the first place

Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?

No. First i have to know if it is good or not and what you get.

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?
Forums and also comparing with previous title if it is part of a serie.

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?
no

Do you use walk throughs?
With some rpg's yes, because i got stuck or i have the idea i missed something

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?
Offcourse. Who doesn't? You want to play the game without any big problems.
i also download community made patches, because the game wasn't patched by the developer, like vtm:B for example or gothic III.

Do you prefer single character or party?
I have no preferences towards one or other. I like singleplayer such as TES as partybased like NWN.

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?
Singleplayer all the way. I have tried a MMO once, Rappelz, but got tired of it.

No. There has to be something interesting to me in it first.

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?

All of the above and investigating Steam Sales on YouTube, etc.

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?

No.

Do you use walk throughs?

Rarely but sometimes.

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?

Always, unless it's on Steam because they patch it for you but I did have to buy a hard copy of GTA IV because most mods are built to an earlier patch, so I bought the H.C. so I could use that patch to run all the mods I wanted.

Do you prefer single character or party?

Single. Although they're useful for tanking damage when you're first starting a playthrough, followers tend to get in the way more often than not.

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?

Singleplayer. I play BF 3/BF 4, ArmA 3 and EVE Online for MP.

Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?
The chances i'll consider it will be much higher

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?
Gameplay video if available, demo, reading on decent rpgforums

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?
Yes but not in the first complete playthrough, but afterwards i like to mess around.(unless i get critically blocked but thats out of necessity)

Do you use walk throughs?
Only if I'm REALLY stuck or in 2nd/3rd playthroughs to get secrets smile

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?
Try to,luckilly steam does that for me smile

Do you prefer single character or party?
Like em both a LOT

Do you prefer single player or multiplayer?
Single player, although co-op is looking great in D:OS

Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?

Possibly, If it looks fun.

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?

Normally by word of mouth, but reviews do help, as well as the big words 'on sale'.

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?

I don't cheat, but I sure the hell will play around with the editor just because I like creating my own stuff. Again, I mean the 'built in' editors, not like external hex editors and such.

Do you use walk throughs?

Depends, now a days you can just look on youtube and someone will have the solution to your problem.

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?

I probably wouldn't have known that the game even had a patch unless there was a built in patching utility. This is an exception for Neverwinter Nights as you have to download the critical rebuild externally.

Do you prefer single character or party?

It depends, I like party based combat if it works well and is cohesive. But even in that case, I normally would take it upon myself to figure out a way to solo the game, just for the extra challenge. Also, when playing party based games, I like games with a lot of interaction abilities between party members. Having them simply exist sucks.

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?

I prefer all the player wink Generally I'll even play multiplayer (mmo) games by myself, but it is very very fun and interesting to play with friends. I'll prefer being able to play with friends over any other type of game. But single player games are great as well, as long as there's a lot of replay-value, beyond just 'different races and classes'.

Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?

No, depends on reviews, type / style of gameplay etc.

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?

I usually go on reviews, demos etc and popularity e.g bought Skyrim just on popularity alone and enjoyed it.

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?

No except in very rare cases.

Do you use walk throughs?

Only if I'm stuck on a particular quest but I usually like to figure things out for myself.

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?

Yes however most games I buy are via steam so this is automatic.

Do you prefer single character or party?

I like both as long as it's a good story based game. I like solo sandbox style games like Skyrim. Especially on the PC as you can download player made content / mods.

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?

Single player and local co-op with friend. Don't play MMORPG's due to lack of time required to get the most out of them.
