well...

I finally installed it and checked it out.
It kinda looked interesting. Although I never got further than the first building.
Becouse of the controls.Well... kinda.
Why is my char always moving by itself?
Controling it with the keys isn't that hard.
But... like... my char is standing against a wall. I use the mouse to look around. And as soon as my char detects free space it starts walking in that direction. And it keeps on moving till it bumps into a wall or whatever in that direction.
It should wait till I tell it to move forward. It makes it unpossible to play it.

Press the a button. That the one who makes you're char walk automatic.

There is something like that Jurak. But that means you run al the time, not that your char walks on its own.

Btw Seth: Did you install all the patches???
Normally if you hit the 'a' botton or another button of the movement keys (z,s,q,d) the char should walk if you want.

I checked the back of the manual on the keyguide but couldnt see it, I know I have pressed that key before though. It has to be near A, W, S,or D because I pressed it by accident when moving. No dont ask me to go check. I have been playing it for hours now and just died without saving. If I find it when I finish sulking, Ill let you know.

the game simply shuts down without warning or anything. (it seems to be a memory leak.)

I have had that problem too, I thought it was one of the mods I was using.

Do you have a joystick plugged in? I had a similar problem as you. My character kept moving forward because my joystick wasn't 100% correctly calibrated. In it's standard position, it'd make my character move forward in Morrowind. I unplugged my joystick and the problem went away.

Thankx for the answers everyone.
I don't have a joystick plugged in though.
I'll see what happens when/if I try to play it again... one of these days.
I think I have the latest patch installed. Dunno anymore.

Morrowind really is one you either love or hate. The depth of the gameworld comes from (1)the history of the land (Which is found mostly in books in the game, so if you arent a reader, too bad ) (2)the detail of the graphics (From the models to the skins, everything fits), (3)and the world itself (Its sometimes just a blast to stop and look at the view).

The NPC's definatly lack (Cardboard cuttout) and the plot is so.....amorphous(?)....its hard to get involved in.

But if you can get past that and just play for the enjoyment of being part of the world (And trust me, invest that effort and it will be repaid) its like nothing else around. I have the advantage of having been familiar with the world of Tamriel since volume one, so I know a lot of the histories and cultures that makes the game atmospheric.

I really love Morrowind. I would not say its the best RPG I have ever played. There are many I love more. But not many I will play for as long.

@ Death: Why do you hate Bethesda?
