I just notice that if you want to pet your dog ... you have there [humanoid] tag ... So i presume some beast races are planned ... hopefully not Dragonborn only.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!
(1) It is actually surprising that no one has yet demanded the existence of some catlike race. Similar to the Kilrathi or Mrrshan in settings like Wing Commander or Master of Orion. (2) However, this thread seems to be about something... else. I'm sure there will be mods about this, Larian doesn't need to go there.
Oooh, I would LOVE that -- I guess that so many of the companions are like mercurial cats that nobody felt the need to have another one so far.
All: I'm choosing to interpret this as affectionate humour, but please be careful to avoid straying into insults.
On a wider point; do not let this become a thread devoted to (or attacking) any particular kink or fetish. There are plenty of those elsewhere on the internet and this is not the place for such discussions.
I wholeheartedly disagree.
Their behaviour is pernicious and insidious, they revel in breaking rules and making people uncomfortable, and hide behind responses like yours to feel emboldened and empowered.
They choose to come here and turn their niche fetish in to common culture. Furry culture ... always ... everywhere it is allowed to take root, turns in to nothing more than a bestiality fetish romp.
I'd like to remind you, Sadurian, that bestiality is illegal ... pretty much everywhere in the western world. For a reason.
The fact that these people NEED the Harkness test just to reign in their sexuality is problematic to the nth degree.
Stop encouraging it. They and theirs are awful people.
I will never allow its presence near me without speaking up about it. And if speaking up against it gets me banned, then I wear that badge with pride.
1) To be clear I am not one to kink shame. If humans want to dress up in outfits, cuddle each other and discuss their believe that they have an animal spirit inside them that's great, that's even kinda fun. But sex with a boar is not 'furry', it's something else that's not okay. 2) Yeah I know the OP was just having fun.
Err, sorry if the topic caused anyone to be uncomfortable enough to react like above... I just assumed most of this was joking around? And yeah, Feral stuff is not under the purview of Furry usually as that is bestiality. Also sorry if me bringing up myself as a furry in the joking around made anyone uncomfortable.
OP here! Yes, I was joking around, I never expected that tsundokugames would have such a strong reaction, and I'm sorry that he feels that way. The only reason why I posted the hog picture is because that damn hog had the same requests as many of us romance story junkies ask of Larian: "WHERE IS MY MATE, GODDAMIT!".
Just in case anyone was wondering, I'm PRO finding that hog a hog mate, PRO two wild-shaping adult druids having fun in the woods, but CON a Wild Shaping druid laying with an actual hog.
On a related note, don't you think that it's ironic that the druids of the Emerald Grove 1) Worship Silvanus, a horned god; 2) Wear fake horns and horn-like hairstyles but 3) Are super racist against the tieflings, who have actual horns? I think they're jealous.

I'll see myself to the horny gulag now.
I actually planning on doing a tiefling druid run, just to confuse everyone in the grove...
"We are all stories in the end. Just make it a good one."
At this point, I'd just like to remind people that a virtual game where you can romance animals does not actually count as bestiality, just like reading a book where such things happen is also not. At least in my country that is.
I'm not trying to justify anyone's paraphilia, nor insist that such things be added to this game, but this is an important legal distinction. No one is actually going to go to jail for looking at virtual art, or reading books about taboo sexual topics.
I thought we were having a joke around, in a borderline taboo way, and someone even brought up the whole "druid issue" that has actually been a legitimate talking point over the years in dnd. Apologies if someone got upset, it was not my intention to upset anyone.
I think no-one has been vocal about Tabaxi, Tortles, etc., so far is because they appear in official books that aren't the PHb, and we don't yet have even all of the PHb races.
I absolutely want to see all of our regular race options supported in game - bu there are a lot, and Larian have already said and demonstrated that the potential work-load is very much more than they anticipated.
Dragonborn (Missing but presumed coming) Dwarf (Present) Elf (Present) Gnome (Missing but presumed coming) Half-Elf (Present) Halfling (Present) Half-Orc (Missing, no evidence yet) Human (Present) Tiefling (Present)
After that, the more common player races (and more commonly socially accepted) from other books include:
Others which are not really setting-agnostic (but often are transposed at player request), and from other realm-spaces still within the official realms-lore:

That's a lot of playable races. It's hard to say how many will be within Larian's scope, but at this stage, cross your fingers for the PHb at least.
As greedy as it would be to say this, I would love to see all (faerun compatible) implemented. Heck, I would love to see one companion of each in the game (non origin) BUT I know that is not realistic and that the scope of such a request would have to be greatly reduced.
Currently we are missing the githzerai but uh there are some listed that likely can and should be left out, notable Simic Hybrid, Vedalken, Verdan, and Leonin should not be included purely cause I think they are completely not canon to Faerun? Shifters, Warforged, Kalashtar, and Changelings are canon I think but very very uncommon? Satyr, Centaur, and Minotaur would likely not be implemented purely cause they stray a bit too far, even if I'd love to see them implemented, but I'd argue the rest are completely fair game.
Speaking of fair game and continuing the joking from before, all of them definitely sound good as romance options. Especially the Kenku cause you will know he is an attentive listener and therefor good boyfriend.

I am pretty sure we all were having fun joking around. Some people just can be a little snarky and not enjoy the joke. Personally, I find furries hilarious, nothing to freak out about 8P. Everyone has their kink as long as it is 2 consenting adults, I say go for it. Pretty sure we are all adults here, so I think we can either enjoy the fun of joking around, or just not visiting the thread if it is something we feel strongly against.
Mm, most of this discussion has been joking around and being fun with only the occasionally tangential thing thrown in like thoughts on Tabaxi or Druid Wildshape questing.
Serious Stuff: Though I do feel bad that it got tsundokugames banned cause this was all lighthearted and it apparently tapped into something that was personal for him. I am kinda used to furry hate considering. And cause the topic wasn't exactly serious, I would have preferred to see him suspended instead of banned over something like this. That and I feel bad if I somehow made anyone uncomfortable, and that a hobby/interest of mine (Furry) not related to this game affected someone negatively.
Not Serious: If anthropomorphic animals existed in a setting, for example the Tabaxi or Lizardmen, theoretically, could a Druid transform into them, or could a Ranger tame them into a beast companion if they were animalistic enough to have both the Beast and Humanoid tags?
To answer seriously to your not serious, it would come down to tagging, at a hard rules level, and intelligence at an in-world level.
If they have the beast tag, then they have the best tag, and are appropriate. No playable races do - they're all 'humanoid'
In the world space, animal intelligence generally caps at 3 unless it's a magical beast of some sort, and sentient creatures all generally punch well above that.
