I just bought Gothic 2 (i'm installing it right now). Did anybody played this game? is it any good?
I have been frozen in my seat on many occasions not wanting to move my mouse for fear of what might happen next, I’ve heard sounds and voices so clear that I was becoming unsure if they were actually coming from the speakers

Darkfall, Gothic 2 is about to be released in the U.S. . Let us know what you thought of the game! I have been looking at it as something to play prior to the release and in between sessions. Do tell...Please?

Gothic i & II is a german game ( HAH ! ) and the add-on has just been published. In the german part of this Forum there are discussions about it; another source would be www.RPGDot.com.

Like many european games (especially german), Gothic was very imaginative

Always checking the website for hope www.piranha-bytes.com/gothic2it will take the place of my favorite rpg which was Divinity if i can get my hands on it. Gothic 1 was so fun

Gothic 1 was a classic. I really loved it to bits (I still have the bits right here!). My only minor gripe was the controls but even they became second nature after a while.
@Alrik: Lol! I hope they didnt put the English version on your CD by accident

I am playing Gothic 2 now, it is great, I love it. I haven't played G1 because of cheesy controls.
Gothic 2 has excellent combat system and quest is also intriquing with many sidequests plus you will have almost different stories playing with three different classes.
Another advantage IMO is that it is made by european developers. I became a bit tired from expressions like -I'll be back-.
Anyway if you need advise or just wanna share thoughts go to rpgdot.com forums, plenty of info there.
OHh and I have a question to those who played the german version. How is it? Is it really so much different from english? I mean the quality of actors.

Well the problem with comparing english and german version is, one has to have ( right expression ? ) both at the same time to be able to compare.
I don't. I have played Gothic 1, but never finished so far. I consider my PC too weak for Gothic 2, that's why I haven't bought it so far.
A note to the add-on : It puts some new things into the game, but unfortunately one has more or less to begin a new game to take full benefit from the expansion.

English version was heavily cricisized comparing to german one in PC gamer magazine. I found english version quite good, but my english is quite poor.

I like Gothic 2 a lot. Every element of the game is incredible, although the random conversations can seem a bit weird sometimes. Oh and the loading times are huuuuuuge!

You haven't played Freelancer to hear terrible conversations. I still wonder how could this game get that high rating.
Loading times on my pc are quite ok. Ohh this happends if you have shortages of RAM and video

No. If you see it in a bargain bin in a year or so, I'd reccomend it. But not for the full price.
