He has a complicated magical automation set up back home in which several times a day, a berber berry is dropped into a bowl, then turned into a goodberry, which is then transmuted into a live and exttemely nutritious mouse, giving the cat both food and stimulation.
There's also a sand golem in a box which the cat can litter in. The golem then automatically cleans itself through the sewage drop hole.
