If you try and use certain actions the action loses sync with what is being selected. This happens a lot. If people don't realize what is going on it can be extremely frustrating. Here is an example. If I am Wyll and I select action bar, hex, then I try and use the d pad to choose between level I or level II, then hit A to select it, the action will switch often and Wyll will execute a move or another attack instead of Hex. This happens a lot. When it does it completely messes up your turn and can lead to a party wipe.

Another quirk on Stadia is that for some of my spells which can be cast as a level I or level II spell I see 5 or 6 copies of it in the dialog window where you choose between level I or level II. For example, hex shows up 6 times as a level II, but never even shows me a level I option.

When playing on Stadia with a controller and you go to your Journal, then select the tips menu, if you are using the D pad to move up and down between items things work as intended, but if you use the left stick to move up and down between items your character will continue to move in game. So..... you can be trying to find out more about stealth and accidentally walk into a bad situation.

I know PC players make up the majority of early access, but I think it would be good if the Larian QA team did a playthrough with Stadia and used the controller. There are many many quirks which players have had to work around since launch. We need a little love on the Stadia side of things. smile

I have additional information about my issue with hex. I watched a video from Fextralife about Wyll and in that video I saw that when he used hex he got to pick the attribute it was being applied on. This is why I see 5 or so versions of level II hex . But, on Stadia with a controller you do not see any description dialog as you move between the different casting levels, so they all just look like a level II hex. So, this is another one to add to the list. No dialog when you move over spell selection on Stadia.

When playing with a controller on Stadia you cannot scroll down when examining an enemy. This prevents the user from finding out helpful information like an enemy’s weaknesses/resistances.

As I had mentioned in the original part of the post, the action performed by my character is sometimes not the one I had originally selected. It would be nice there was small text somewhere in the lower left hand corner (maybe above the character portraits) that changed and told you the current action which is selected and about to be performed. After you select an action you just sometimes just see the target character and the with the white ring around it and the hit percentage. So, you may think you are going to cast a spell, then an arrow goes flying from your character as you curse loudly. If there was something like:

selected: spell - guiding bolt

selected: movement

selected: normal ranged attack

Then, you could do a double check to ensure what you thought you selected is the action which will be executed.

totally agree with all these points. There are a lot of quirks on the Stadia experience. I've even found myself sometimes reverting to a mouse and keyboard while playing Stadia on a PC, just to see how the PC/keyboard experience works and to red the combat log. You can do that on a PC but clearly not possible on Chromecast.
