Guidance is a terrible mess.
It adds a 1d4 bonus to every skill check and also shopping prizes.

The problem is that it rolls (at least) twice.
Once when it shows the target and once when you actually roll.
This means you can fail when you should succeed and vice versa.

Dear devs, please fix this so that guidance rolls only once for each skill check.

Yes ...

I think it's been that way since October.

I did feel very tempted to be sarcastic and say that integer arithmetics is still a cutting edge technology, with very few experts that everybody wants to hire, and Larian wasn't able to grab enough devs with a PhD in this area of computing science, so be happy if adding and substracting integers produces an integer to begin with.

Instead, I'll just say that the problem is Guidance and the UI for conversation skill check. And perhaps big-project management. Hopefully, at some point before release, the people working on the design of conversation skill checks, the people implementing spells, and the people working on the UI for conversations will finally meet. They will sit together, enter a harmonisation trance, and the world never will be the same again.

For now, the game just provides massively false information to the players. And it's not the only area where it does that (the tooltip for the Silence spell comes to mind).

There's also times where you get lower rolls than what is actually needed and it shows success lmao

It would seem that they are storing guidance rolls in two locations, one read by the UI call, and one read by the roll calculator, and one is not getting updated after the first guidance check roll; terrible coding choice.

I believe this problems source lays in the fact that Guidance is rolled pasively (before our roll), and not actively as our d20 ...
If we would roll them both simultaneously (as i allready sugested few times) it would be simple math Result 1 + Result 2 gets Number that is compared to Roll Target. :-/

And it would look better. :P

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
