It is just a request. It's like saying to Mum, "May I have more ice cream please?" after you've had a bowl already. Doesn't hurt to ask. Worst they can say is not, or they can just ignore us.

"Mom, this does not please me, bring me another and fast you slouch."
"Mom, I don't think you understand the work I've put in eating your ice cream, you should appreciate me more and give some compensation for me."
