I've been wondering how to use the fort defences to my advantage, some goes have worked wellish and some less so. I mean those boys can jump.

This time it took a couple of goes to lure one in with a pet, and the fort fried the little monster on the doorstep. OK one time he killed the bait before turning away and running through a fry heal cycle because no one else was engaged in the battle, which is probably a side effect of avoiding stealth cheese, that has cropped up in a couple of fights in the last run.

Unfortunately the laser cannon died on me or ran out of ammo, so I had to take out the second boy manually, but that does seem to mean I can stand on the steps under the glow.

To be fair, sending out a scout would probably not have been a thing I thought of if I hadn't died a few times early on, but this is not the only place that's true. I'm kinda hoping I remember the lesson with the final content.
