Well, while I do not share your enthusiasm for Gale - I certainly do respect the amount of pondering you've done regarding possible outcomes.
Like you mentioned yourself, we're only in act 1 right now and there'll be loads of opportunities to discover ways to save Gale as we go (when the game is fully released). :] Do not despair ahead of time!
I am pretty sure Larian won't kill off their Origin characters easily, and if nothing else - I am fairly certain that there will be at least two (but probably three or more) endings open for origin characters (both as companions and playable such) so I would definitely think that there will be some way of sparing him from a certain death in the end, so don't you worry! :]
