Hello everybody, i bought the game yesterday and I am happy to meet you all. After spending 5 hours in the character editor yesterday, I had to realize that there is only ONE face that corresponds to my ideas of a tough male man. (Dwarf head 3). Everyone else looks very androgynous and boyish. Where are the wrinkles, the scars, the dirt, the underflowing eyes, the character? The faces and also the bodies fit more into a paperboy simulator. Even then, pimples would be missing. Am I the only one who feels like that, or do you all play female characters?

this is like, the most poorly thought out attempt at trolling I have ever seen... Wow.. how do you think i want to troll? Did I formulate that too offensive? That was not my intention.. Edit: Sorry for the Paperboy comparison.. It seems to be a great game! it's just difficult for me to roleplay a babarian-like (masculin) character..

this is like, the most poorly thought out attempt at trolling I have ever seen... You may not agree with him, that does not mean he was trolling. While I've only played female characters, he might have a point about the male faces looking too model-like for him, with perfectly clear complexion and Hollywood actor looks. The character creator could use a slider for age, by adding wrinkles and sagging. Making older-looking characters isn't my cup of tea, but if the character creator can let you have blue hair and purple skin, why not wrinkles?

I also never created a male ... But wait until you get to voices ... kinda impossible to create proper dwarf with curent options.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

Such a slider would be awesome!

Larian specificly told us that they are not doing sliders ... It was about face proportions tho, so maybe ...

Hopefully there will be new faces (or mods) in the future.. Yes i also missed a dwarf (or deeper) voice-set But it's ok since the character doesn't seem to be talking much, right? Edit: Just found a Mod on Nexus that seems to have more faces.. I'll try it when i'm at home

There's definitely been tons of awesome feedback and suggestions for more customization options! I'd love to see some too. And yes @Bhaloc! There are some really crazy people (the good kind of crazy) hanging out on Discord, nerding off with modding appearances and customization options and I love it! I lurked them working out neck-seam issues a little while ago. Can't wait to see what they do with actual modding support ^^

Yes, please add stereotypical "strong" masculine options to appease the neckbeard horde's insatiable desire for wishful projection, cough, roleplay....
Also, if we're going that road, please add option to increase boob size on females as they all look like flat-chested gender fluid angry twitter feminists for the moment and this might impact sales among insecure teenage boys negatively.
There you go OP, good troll, I took the bait and swallowed it.

I have to be honest - I've never really understood why so many people see fit to praise the character creator in this game. It is so exceptionally limited, bland and unsatisfying; truly a monumental disappointment in its current state, compared to what was advertised. You can go and look at the "post your character" thread to see thirty pages of different people posting the same five or six characters with variations in skin tone or eye colour, if you want to see just how egregious the chronic same-face blandness actually gets. It is, frankly, terrible.
To the people acting like the request for rougher, craggier faces are somehow trolls; for shame. The OP didn't exactly phrase themselves well, but you cannot honestly and in good faith look at the five or six faces that we have, knowing that that is literally all we have, and they are all very, very similar to one another, on the scale of things in this setting, and say that people requesting more variation is somehow a bad thing.

Keep in mind that this is Early Access and a lot of features are only partially released. We will see more down the road once more content and the eventual full release ( Which I am taking vacation time for so please announce it well in advance Larian ) of the game.

Am I actually being trolled by being accused of trolling? @The Composer & Reckem: I'm excited to see what they will do in the future! @all: I don't want to attack or troll anyone..

I'm sure that, like everything else, the character models are still being worked on. Yes I agree that some of the options are limited.
BUT. Halsin is an example of a more buff male body model - it stands to reason that the male PC model will have this option as well? Also if you look at datamining videos, it does seem like they are working on a variety of character and body models and heights/sizes.
Hang in there, you might be able to play Arnold Shwarzenegger yet. :P

There's some evidence that we can at least tentatively hope for a choice of a couple of different body 'types', eventually. Fingers crossed. I'm certainly hoping for it.
Maybe when we get Barbarian, it will come with an update for beefier body types and faces that look like they've had a few arguments with mountain sides?

I play a female character. When I started playing as a male elf character, I also liked only one face. But male characters actually have more "adult faces", female characters don't have any at all. But I hope we get more faces on release.
I don't speak english well, but I try my best. Ty

Ha-ha, that reaction.
Totally agree with the OP. The paladin of Tyr which I very much hope is a placeholder, looks nothing like a paladin, but a bard at best. I believe this is because all faces for male humans are kinda identical, young-looking, and don’t change anything considerably enough. Nor do we have any tools to affect body shape.

I'm not really familiar with teh male faces, since I only play females (but there could be more options there too). I saw one human male character somewhere, that looked pretty gruff. It wasn't in this forum though and I probably won't find him again. The face looked a bit like that of Abdirak (for op: a npc, you will meet along the line), but with more lines in the face. It could have been a mod though.
I do hope, there will be more options for both genders.
