where's the best place to make a homebase or HQ for a character? i'm currently holed up in george's house in aleroth. i want to move to as magicana to be near those merchants but i can't find a house that i can sleep on. there's an empty house there but my character doesn't want to sleep there, saying something bout the owner of the house finding him there and somesuch.
any suggestions?

in my game, th best place for a home base is in the assassins guild (empty)guild rooms. its a palace under ground, too bad to clear it, u have to be like level 25. i'm using it, or jorams celler, really big, bigger then georgias shanntie, unless u cleared the boxes.

You do not need a bed to sleep. You can take a pillar and a blanket in your inventory, and then you can sleep anywhere. The best HQ for me is near a teleporter. Leave one of the ancient pyramid near the teleporter and you can come back easyly with the other one.

So THAT what are the pillow n' blankets are for! I remember I saw one pillow in that elf's house at the beginning. And blankets... Everyone has them . Still I will look for a cool place to store goods .

I cleared out the assassin's guild at level 17 . So far this is my favorite place to sleep and store my goods.

Actually it's thanks to my Claymore of Poison. I found it in a small cave south of the Merchant's Area.

I use the "Cursed Abbey". Nice and quiet with lots of room. Also next to a teleporter for those quick shopping trips.

The Cursed Abbey is a little creepy though. Wouldn't you have nightmares? :0 I personally prefer sleeping right in a Merchant's house, like the Man of Magic Charms Kistindalis, so I don't have to waste time and can get right to the selling.

Yea, but just think of the quiet. No noisy neighbors with the exception of an occasional corpse or zombie. But does make entertaining a little hard!

But after you remove the Abbey's curse, no more zombies or corpses. When I did that, I also lit up all the torches in the Abbey, making it a cozy place to stay. There are so many rooms with beds, I thought of opening a hostel for the victims of orc raids.

i use the nice grassy knoll around the Ars tele station....lots of room to spread things out..... i'll show it in the pics page.....or would that be for pics.... do we need a screenshot page where you can link to your fav shots or questionable areas in the game? or would that be a waste of another page?

I think / believe there won't be anymore nightmares in the Abbey - since the curse has been taken from it.
What a relief !

won't the merchants get picky when you drop your items on inside their house? i'm thinking of setting up my new HQ at the blacksmith's(geoff(?) house only thing is the door is always locked. and he might think that the items i painstakingly stockpiled is his. and how the hell can you steal from the guy? i tried putting 4 points into pickpocketing just to get the key from him but it didn't work, tried it a couple of times thinking my luck must be low then, yet always catch me.

Blake did not mind me leaving a couple chests of loot in his store (in case he offered a spell book). Leave a teleporter stone in the black smith's house, and teleport in after he leaves and locks the door. You can also put a container in your inventory, open it, then drag and drop things into it. This is not considered stealing even when you walk away, though removing the items from the chest the first time is considered stealing, so make sure you are alone if you try this.

Is there any way to make a bed I can carry arround?

Do you have to leave the stone in one of the back rooms, maybe? I used the container in the inventory method to loot the shop, but others have used a teleporter stone to get in. There is a portable bed in the house north of the cursed Abbey, or you can combine two piles of straw in your inventory ( ALCHEMY SPOILER THREAD + items that can be combined).
