I want better lines and choices for my MC to deal with those companions. This may be embarrassing to say but, don't know if you have played SWKOTOR but initially after Bastila joins you she's extremely arrogant despite the fact that, well, you know. I hated it but there was no response that let me express that. So I just fired up the editor and added my own responses just so I wouldn't feel like tearing my hair out every time I go through that conversation. I did this on other occasions in the old BG games too. Yeah sometimes it's just that bad. At the very least I hope they give you a toolset/editor so you can add your own responses like "STFU" as well as the appropriate followup responses for other characters. There are times you just gotta take things into your own hands.

Alright, to properly address the OP - I believe I understand what you mean, but please correct me if I am wrong; the options that we get to deal with the snarky attitude with our companions is often... Lacking, at best. And it is not due to the companions itself - personally, I like the vast majority of them and I find their conversations entertaining in themselves, but I do agree with OP that the responses are often... Not very impressive. It is just our (in-)ability to properly respond to their behavior, regardless if we want to call them out for being confusing or behaving poorly (ahem, SH), simply tell them to "sit down" (although, you can do this with Lae'zel at times) or simply make a in-character decision to do something snarky back - like roll our eyes, laugh at them, give them a snarky comment or even just sighing, going like "Ugh, never mind" - aka. making an in-character decision that the game actually registers as us calling out their behavior. You understood me perfectly. And I don't lack in imagination, trust me. It's hard to say how many times I imagined choking Shadowheart with her own braid, but imaginary proper response cannot replace an actual response, there's just no satisfaction in it. =)Oh, I get that. 100%. It would be nothing short of amazing to see/hear SH's reaction if the game actually added an option to roll your eyes at her in-game. :'D "You know where to find me should you decide to reinvent your taste of company." "I just did, you're out, sweet heart." "Shadowheart" "Don't care." Or that, that would be *HILARIOUS*. :'D

Oh i totaly get it ... now. I really wanted to throw it back in Shadow's face, when she demands you to tell her everyting ... but once you hit some of her secrets, she starts talking about that is not your concern. -_- +1 from me!
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

I agree that dialog options should be improved. It seems that they are so focused on "origins" that they have forgot about letting the player have fun. I mean, when you talk to the goblins you have nice options, some of them really fun. But when you talk with companions, the options are very límites, boring and meant to make the companion be the one with the last word. And that regardless if stats. I mean, I could understand that you have fewer options with low charisma, inteligence or wisdom. But if your mental stats are good, then they are nerfing your character. Not cool.
So I really hope they offer better options to players, not just origins.

I agree with everything was said by you guys, I finished my first playthrough of the EA build yesterday, I enjoyed my time with the game but the dialogues need some work. The options you have on dialogues are all bland and kinda neutral, like said previously you don't havea a way to "deal" with you companions even if they're judging your every decision, the dialogues options you get from you race or class are really weak and don't affect the conversation most of the time. I know that larian likes to focus on the "origins" but creating your own character it's more interesting in my opinion especially if it's based on DnD and with the current dialogue it's kinda of suboptimal at the best, for me this is the soul of the game, of course having a good battle system and nice armors etc it's important for the game BUT having good dialogues options that are interesting, well thought and well written are way more important In my opinion and of course the quests I know the game it's in EA but so many missed opportunities for interesting quests and storylines

+1 , coming to this from the old infinity games, I kinda miss (and like how the old games did) the feeling that my stats impact my dialogue, if I roll a not too intelligent brute as a wariori I want to see this reflected in his lines, if I roll a high intelligent wizzard I would like to be able to be all pedantic about it, and if I roll a high charisma bard I would like to be overly seductive prince charming. So far the options seem a bit bland and 'fixed' . And indeed, sometimes I just want to tell NPC's to f*ck off and see how the game reacts to it, if I don't like the outcome I'll simply reload. See this example from the old BG series for instance, even if the options do not all lead to different outcomes at least I am allowed to RP as nice, snarky, or whatever. Also I like how they kinda 'broke trough the 4th wall' by offering this kind of 'meta-esque' choices from time to time. ![[Linked Image from scientificgamer.com]](https://www.scientificgamer.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/portal.jpg)
