But since Larian allready confrimed to us, that we will have to dedicate at end of Act1 ... i dare to presume that since that situation, we shall follow (acompany) our chosen origin character
NoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO... , _ ,
I've mentioned this in another, very long and unfocused post of mine, but since Dialogues is the main reason for my complete loss of interest in this game, I've decided it deserves its own room.
After a rather long break I thought to give the game another try (today) in hopes to rekindle my interest, and after first conversation with Shadowheart it was GAME OVER for me. The rekindling experience lasted about 2 minutes and it was very successful in sparking my annoyance only. Not the main drive for me in the game...
I'm just tired to feel like a f...ing moppet, which is a consistent feeling throughout the entire game.
You can get distracted by fights, but sooner or later you are bound to face this immovable wall of crap, especially if you wish to experience the game in its fullest. And the key problem here is "immovable". Your inability to take over the conversation by design, to alter your companions' behavior in any way, your ever unchanging influence, etc. That trust/distrust system is a complete BS and matters only in 2 situations - how much the companions are willing to unveil about themselves and whom will you spend the night with. It has no impact on neither their general behavior nor their/yours dialogue options, not even your rolls in those dialogues. And when you level up, you gain new skills but there is no sense of growth whatsoever.
Your MC is in the leading position, yet your companions always have the last word, which at 90% of a time is neither constructive nor interesting, just arrogant and plain stupid. And I am not talking about companions alone, your dialogue options in most of the quests/situations are equally retarded. Like I said, it's a gift that keeps giving throughout the game. This is the only game I've seen that insists on you being either pushover or mentally challenged.
So, it seems that it all comes down to a matter of patience for me, how long am I willing to endure being called "stupid" by idiots with a gag in my mouth. The game offers no options to deal with it, it's either endure or walk out.
I will check on the game when it's fully released, which I'm guessing will be a year or two from now, judging by the amount of issues they have to deal with. Unless they decide to release a raw version of the full game.
There is nothing else I can add to what I've already said here and in my other posts, or what other players stressed about on these forums. I also have no idea, how many people share in my frustrations, so there is no way of telling if there can be even the slightest hope for any of this to be even considered for adjustments. One thing's for sure, there is nothing else for me to do here, just wait and see if it was complete waste of money or not.
Alright, to properly address the OP - I believe I understand what you mean, but please correct me if I am wrong; the options that we get to deal with the snarky attitude with our companions is often... Lacking, at best. And it is not due to the companions itself - personally, I like the vast majority of them and I find their conversations entertaining in themselves, but I do agree with OP that the responses are often... Not very impressive. It is just
our (in-)ability to properly respond to their behavior, regardless if we want to call them out for being confusing or behaving poorly (ahem, SH), simply tell them to "sit down" (although, you can do this with Lae'zel at times) or simply make a in-character decision to do something snarky back - like roll our eyes, laugh at them, give them a snarky comment or even just sighing, going like "Ugh, never mind" - aka. making an in-character decision that the game actually registers as us calling out their behavior.
I mean, I usually just imagine my character walking away and/or rolling her eyes at SH most of the time - but obviously the game does not know that, so neither does SH and obviously thereafter she won't react like my character had rolled her eyes at her.
I hate the fact that MC is nothing more but a sandbag for them to exercise their stupidity upon and there is nothing that can be done about it. The last word is always theirs even if it's the dumbest thing you've ever heard. And the choices of words for the MC also desire to be better, to put it lightly, turning your MC either into a submissive kitten or a plain idiot, who is unable to stand their ground either way. I don't want companions to be changed or be rewritten, I want better lines and choices for my MC to deal with those companions.
Hmm, as long as our character is not voiced I am going to *ASSUME* that Larian left the responses the way they are to keep it as simple as possible - with room for imagination to take over the actual reply. What concerns me, personally, is IF we actually get a fully voiced character... I fear multiple situations like Star Wars: The Old Republic where you select an "descriptive" option, and what comes out from your characters mouth is so off the target that you almost fall of your chair either laughing, or cringing in full despair (dez-pair, huehuehue). Anyhow, since we have noted in earlier topics that it seems probable that our PC might be fully voiced by the end of release - it might get better (or much, much, much worse :'] ) depending on what happens. Fully voice being implemented would also explain why there are so very few dialogue options despite our character not having a voice (aka, should be easier to add more flavor lines).
