I want better lines and choices for my MC to deal with those companions.
So ... For example ... you want option to tell Shadowheart to "Go f*** yourself!" ?
That would be awesome! I asked for such option few months ago.
Roughly put, YES =) And I want her to act in accordance. I want real variety of responses (and a better quality of those) and consequences, not pretense, when out of 4 options 3 lead to the same result. And I want it all to be consistent with actual events. I want to be able to remind Lae'zel who dragged her out of the cage, when her superiority complex clouds her judgement, and that I won't hesitate to put her back where I found her if she continues her meaningless hissing. As for Shadowheart, that character is not only the most arrogant but also the dumbest of them all, which is fine, what isn't fine that your lips are sealed and she's allowed to spray that stupidity without consequences. She threatens you to leave? I want to tell her: "break a leg, see how you fair without me." She either goes or shuts up. She tells you that you turned potential threat into a real one, tell her "Yes, and now we have neither and if you don't like the calls I make, no one is holding you." And so on.... They make it sound as you need them more than they need you, remind them that this is not the case. They should not have the last word unless it's really essential to the story.
The weird part is that I don't have this particular problem with anyone else, for some reason they decided to make only female characters to be unbearable bitches. I don't like Astarion's personality either but I don't have problems with him or his lines whatsoever. His lines are not directed at you, you don't have to defend yourself. "What are we, messengers now?" You get it, he doesn't like it, you don't care, there's nothing to reply to, moving on. But when some damaged, bipolar (as someone stated) cleric treats you as a dirt for no other reason but highly overestimated sense of self-importance, I want to fight back. I have a sock, you have a mouth and I sense harmonious union on the horizon...
My heart will take me there, where my feet cannot...
