Firstly, what has been accomplished. so far. is astounding. Kudos to Larian!

I have a few minor suggestions that I feel would offer some improvement.

-When the characters speak telepathically, the speech would greatly benefit with an added wispy or echo-like sound. This would help distinguish between actual speech and telepathic speech. I think it currently looks strange when the characters switch to telepathic speech, their mouths stop moving but the sounds of the voice remain unchanged. It's a little bit of a disconnect.

- Wizard - Abjuration specialization- I think the the Arcane Ward feature looks terrible. It's as if my character is walking around surrounded by a large fish bowl. It's so distracting that I restarted the game and will choose the Evocation Specilaization instead. I understand the need to visually represent magical effect, though I'd prefer to see more subtle effects for all protection spells, etc. Too much "glimmer" distracts from the aesthetic of the game.

- Although I haven't gotten too far in the game, I must say that all companions seem quite abrasive. Not one kind word from anyone. Perhaps they warm up to your character overtime...I hope that is the case, because currently, it's a little disappointing (and depressing) to be surrounded by cynicism, volatility, and negativity. At least one or two nicer companions to balance out the negativity would be ideal.

Thanks

A pet peeve of mine as well. The character models and armor are great. But it doesn't really matter when your spellcaster looks like a sparkling bubble 24/7 starting at level 1.

Mage Armor, Longstrider and Arcane Ward have ridiculous VFX for a low level effect that's always on. I've suggested before they should be invisible and show VFX only when they are activated i.e. you are attacked or a character with Longstrider is running. Another option would be icons somewhere else.

Hunter's Mark is awful too. A huge red ball hovering over the target's head. Something subtle would be more tasteful here as well. The Ranger is only marking the target for themselves anyway so why does it have to be so huge?

Many will agree strongly with you here. Some have, apparently, seriously considered forming a party with just their pets to go through the game.

As others have put it, Larian doesn't really do "subtlety".

Having the effect only manifesting when hit is an excellent idea.

These are all great suggestions. I'm sure there may be a change to the telepathy after Early Access, but I definitely see what you mean. As for the companions, Seen has saint in an interview that Larian brought out the more neutral/evil companions first, so we may expect more friendlier companions down the road.
