OMG that MTG art is so bad. Is that what people like these days? Everything looks vibrant and comical- like a 13 year old drew the stuff. Or the art director got advice from his grand-kids. Instead of more than scary/atmospheric. Even that beholder; is he laughing lol?? "And DONT FORGET TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH KIDS!! HEHE!!"
I'm pretty sure that beholder is Xanathar, and he is a bit.... unique? Eccentric? all of the above.
