Can confirm that at least for me, Faerie Fire worked to give me advantage (I just used it against the Ogres in the Goblin Village) in Patch 5.

Maybe check if something else is blocking Sneak Attack?

I.e. non-finesse weapon, or armor proficiency issues, etc? Otherwise sounds like a bug.
