Hey Larian developers,

I'm playing the Early Access on Stadia, and I've noticed that when I make any changes to the Keybindings they do not come back during my next gaming session. This is a serious quality-of-life issue, as it requires me to modify the keybindings every time I load the game to be able to use things like Quicksave, or Quickload (which default is not defined to any key somehow).

Not sure if this is a game issue, or a Stadia issue, but please take a look when you have a chance!

Same issue.. on Stadia if that helps.

Also, there are two columns in the key binding area... what's the difference between column 1 and column 2? Maybe adding a name above each or a tool tip might help. Thank you, love this game so far. smile

I'm playing on Stadia as well, and I have the same issue. Additionally, there are several hotkeys that I don't seem to be able to be set. For example, despite trying to assign the "Go to camp" button to keys I was able to use for other inputs, I can't get the "Go to camp" input to register. This happens with many of the inputs in the game, and I consequently have to use the mouse to utilize much of the game's functionality. I assume these two issues are related, but both are pretty substantial QoL problems. I'm also curious if our inability to utilize certain keys, like F keys, is a related issue.

Same issue -- every time I log in, I need to set the Camera Rotate Left and the Camera Rotate Right...

I don't know about any of you but I was disappointed not to see any fix for this in the latest patch changelog.

Hopefully if we keep this thread active, one of the devs will come take a look and suggest troubleshooting or will be able to fix it.

I'm pretty confused how this isn't seen as a bigger priority for Larian. Anyone using Stadia to play GB3 is by default, unable to utilize a large number of what seem like essential command inputs (quicksave/quickload/etc). The only way for us to fix this is to edit the default keybindings... which reset themselves each time we play. How many BG3 Stadia players are there?

Do any of you that have this issue, no other baldur's gate 3 stadia players that do not? Everyone I know that plays this game on the stadia cannot retain hotkey changes. Is everyone just sucking it up, or some people not experiencing this?

Hey Devs -- this issue is still not resolved. Hoping you see this!

Hotkeys don't get saved when playing on Stadia

This is definitely for everyone on stadia. My best guess is that key bindings are saved locally and are not in the saved game since they are user preference and not game specific. Since Stadia only cares about keeping yours saved games, all of the local files get lost.

A solution would to be to couple your config with the saved game but then that would confuse people who load an old save and then there settings are changed. Beyond that solution they will have to create a Stadia specific fix and work with Stadia to have a separate save for you config, this would also need additional UI on there side as well that is stadia specific. I'm sure they are aware of the issue, just a bit more integration work then it might seem, as a developer myself I hate working with 3rd parties and it always takes forever.

If any of you would like to add to it, I've created a post about this issue in the Stadia community forums. I'd like to get this issue more attention. I think it's pretty crazy that this wasn't an anticipated or recognized issue before early access release. If everyone on Stadia is going through this while having to constantly restart game sessions due to early access errors... seems rather important.

Can we expect a fix for keybindings being restored to default on each new session?

Good news! In the latest version it seems this issue is fixed (at least for me).

I started a session to try out Patch 4 and changed the keybindings for turning the camera left & right, but then didn't have time to finish setting up my character, closed the session and started a new one today, and low and behold the keybindings stayed the same!

Still not fixed for me with Patch 5. I'm left-handed, so I need to change the keyboard layout to compensate. I use the keypad for some things. Every time I play I have to reset all the keypad keys - it remembers 2 of them but then ignores them when it restores it to default and I have to clear them all again.

Even more strange, is the file with the key bindings located in PlayerProfiles/profile/: inputconfig_p1.json
Change the file to make it Read-Only - the game ignores the Read_Only status and still over-writes the file when I start up the game, so I have reset each time I play or reload a save.

I've email/complained several times...
