As long as they keep blank option for those who want "some-thing/-one else" ... why not?

I would still not recomend to keep your hopes too high tho, since as far as we can tell right now, Larian wants every thing we choose to have some meaning, and it seem quite impossible to expect them to make special reactions for "deity/patron" worshipper ... and "deity/patron" cleric, or user i gues could be the right word?

Yeah, I had a longer thing where-in we could have more campfire-style interactions that are either:
visions from a god
instructions from a patron
flashbacks to a mentor, family member, or rival
mostly because "damn, I wish warlock patrons meant something"
You know what... in terms of limiting focus to create a better experience, a series of class-focused games wouldn't go amiss.
Not saying BG should be this, different experience.
But say you have a D&D game that is all about the story of a warlock... and then you can have a lot of different experiences based on which patron you pick.
Like, the experience of a Celestial Warlock pacted to an ancient Couatl would be very different than the experience of a Fiend Warlock pacted to a Erinyes general. Lots of replayability as maybe some of the events surrounding the story would be the same, but the main plot points and climax would be depend on your warlock choices.
Probably shorter experience start to finish for one playthrough (20-30 hours?) but lots of alternate stories developing out of it.
