Not a suggestion; I noticed the sound of the pages turning when Gale is reading a book in camp is very similar/identical to the one used in Baldur's Gate 1 for going through your spellbook. I think the sound of putting it away was the same as placing a book in your inventory too. Accidental or deliberate?
...or I'm just going senile, of course.
