Does knocking enemies unconscious serve any purpose at the moment, or is just a non-lethal flavoured kill?

I knocked out robbers in the temple, and more importantly I knocked unconcious gith companions when I refused to help her kill her captors. Robbers seeme to just dissapear after rest, and Laez never reappeared, in spite of being left alive.

Not right now as far as i know. It would be nice if quests and npcs would register events like that.

I chose to knock out the dudes who were accosting the old medicine woman and in the cutscene afterward she acted like I killed them, lol.

Maybe bcs nobody really bothered to check for their lifesigns ...
After all, if you hit someone with 2H sword wich can even BURN since this patch, death its quite understandable expectation. laugh

Its another gimmick feature that serves no purpose.
Do you really think Larian will bother to implement alternative consequences for nearly every fight based on you having killed or just K.Oed them? Maybe a token consequence here and there but thats it.

I mean, at this point anything is possible. They certainly don't skim on reactivity.

And not every fight. For example, I took no issues with robbers having no special interaction, as they don't appear later in the game anyway. But for example, if Laez has a further chain of events if you not recruit her, she could still include her, if you left her unconcious. And definitely NPCs should recognise knocked down NPCs as killed. Gothic1&2 managed to find a way to have non-lethal engagements, I am sure Larian can do even better job.

Don’t do Wyll’s goblin quest in the blighted city, go for the kill. Knocking the goblin out bugs the game and you will have to reload…

Tried to knock out Mayrina's Brothers to keep them safe and they ended up dead anyway.

In the tollhouse if you knock out the Bounty Hunters the quest does not complete. You must kill them.

Unless you have to knock out and then wait for them to leave?
