I knocked out the two guys who were about to attack Auntie Ethel rather than kill them, and after the battle was over, she reacted like I murdered them.

I get how writing and programming a "pacifist" option for every encounter in addition to the typical one where you just kill whoever stands in your way would be a Herculean undertaking. I get that. But if for even the story-based encounters where only knocking out the enemies is a reasonable choice, such as in the case of two guys who are only attacking a woman because they think she kidnapped their friend, the game REALLY SHOULD recognize that the player hadn't killed them.

So if knocking dudes unconscious will wind up having no meaningful effect on the game at all, don't even include it. Just remove the option to deal nonlethal damage. Almost no RPGs even have such a thing as an option anyway, and it's extremely frustrating to have it as an option but for it to be narratively no different from killing.

Agreed. First time I noticed this was trying to get the tieflings away from Lae'zel at the beginning of the game. Failed the skill check to persuade them so had to attack them but didn't want to kill them - knocked them out cold, and the game still acted like I murdered them. Really put a bad taste in my mouth.

unfortunately any knockouts or passive solutions to fights is going to be handled in cutscenes and dice rolls.

That's confirmed? If so, it's really depressing.

I'm hoping they do more. Ranger had an option to use rope to bind enemies at one point, so I wonder if they're still just developing it all.

Also, I knocked out the hag Masks, and when I long rested after taking their stuff, they were gone. I'm hoping they give us more for these adventurers. I'd love to know them more especially if I go through all the work to NOT kill them.

Ha! I tried it in the old patch. I worked really hard to knock them out rather then kill them, but when I removed their masks they were killed anyway. Disappointing.

Hopefully, there will be more non-lethal reactivity later. For not all they did is move nonlethal into toggle section to make space for disengage.

not confirmed but with how central to everything cutscenes are, i can't see them doing it any other way. I hope they let us knock people out in combat and have it matter though, that would be amazing

Yeah, not seeing much point in "non lethal" even being an option if it just gets treated like it was lethal anyway. Either make it actually matter, or straight up remove it.

Well ... even tho i would be all in for implementation for *SOME* reactivity for non lethal damage ...
Im totally against removing it. :-/
Honestly even if the only effect it would have would be that fact that my chaotic good Paladin will never "kill" anyone ... it would be enough for me. laugh

Also, as far as i know there is at least single effect allready implemented.
Someone mentioned around the forum that if you knock-out the "true soul twins" ... and then long rests, they will move to gobin camp, and once you reach them again, they (asweel as rest of the camp) will imediatly turn hostile, when they spot you. smile
Question here is: Is that kind of reaction you want? :P Speaking for myself ... YES!!! Absolutely!! Without a doubt! laugh

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are! frown
