Hmmm... You know what? No. You're right, I guess. Went and killed Ragzlin and then yeah, everyone including the Zhents turned on me after all. Interesting. That is pretty dumb.
But I did notice that they opened the door and ran inside as if to protect the smokepowder shipment they'd just delivered. So maybe that was what Larian was going for. If you come near them, they just attack you because they are assuming you are going to kill them since you killed Ragzlin, the guy they were trading with. Basically, you messed over their business arrangement, and then you came in their direction. So now they wanna kill you.
It would be cool to turn them against Ragzlin and the goblins, somewhat like how you can turn Lump and his companions against them.
