I was always wondering, why the Zhentarim would go hostile, but of course protecting the merchandise ist a valid reason. I normally kill them anyway, since they are slavers.
I think, the only one, not going hostile, If you don't attack him directly, is Abdirak. He even advises you to leave at one point, because 'the goblins are out for blood'.
Gribbo often aggroes, when I fight the goblin group in the main hall and I have to kill her.
