Does anyone else find it strange, or like a missed opportunity, that companions' side-comments and suggestions to Tav are always voiced aloud and they don't use the illithid telepathy to communicate? Things like in the druid grove, when Kagha threatens the tiefling kid, Wyll says something like 'Do something, anything, please!' to the player, as if Kagha couldn't hear him? I never understood that, because we know they can communicate telepathically since Lae'zel does it when she's in her cage. There are several moments throughout the game where this happens, a companion makes a comment that they really shouldn't be saying out loud because an enemy would hear them, why not have them make it telepathically? I have to suspend my disbelief every single time this happens because surely they aren't deaf lmao.

When trying to recruit Shadowheart in the grove if you already have Lae'zel in your party, there's a deception skill check where you suggest that if Shadowheart plays along you can both dispose of Lae'zel later... Why are they even risking voicing that out loud when the player could just say that in SH's head instead? I could go on and on about all the situations where speaking aloud makes no sense, and even longer on situations where it would make sense for someone to say something telepathically, when they say nothing at all (such as *that moment* in the swamp near Ethel's hut with Astarion).

That sounds interesting ...
But i would be aware of overusing it ... after all, all our companions seems displeased (maybe except Astarion) of us when we use our tadpole powers. It might just create another nonsencial situation in the proces.

I mean when i get your examples ...
I see no problem in Kagha hearing Wyll asking your character to "do something" ... why would it bother her anyhow?
The another example of deception skill check when recruiting Shadow ... that is perfect example of when mind comunication could be used.
And the third ... honestly i like how subtle Astarion points out that you "really should do something with this threat" ... so i would not change it, after all nobody would expect to meet a Vampire on daylight, so ... that kinda makes sence to me. O_o

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are! frown

Yes, I felt that way too. There are many cases when characters talk out loud in front of someone they should not.

As far as we know, communicating telepathically has no negative effect on the party. Tav and the companions *do* use it from time to time, and it never triggers an illithid event. The only time an illithid event is caused, is when they use the tadpole to control someone, but not to communicate.

I agree that I like Astarion's subtle hinting as it stands but I still think there should be an option to ask him telepathically how they want to handle it, go straight for the kill, let Astarion handle it, or try to get information out of him. Wyll is usually the biggest offender imo, he constantly suggests fighting and killing people that Tav is talking to, especially in the goblin camps. Why would they let Tav wander around freely when one of their companions is always begging to be allowed to kill whoever they're talking to lol.

There's also that moment with Lae'zel when everyone meets the Githyanki patrol, there's a persuasion check to whisper to Lae'zel to play it cool... Why not just use telepathy? I really could go on and on lol.
