Came across this in this playthrough. So I think they weren't kidding about BG3 having FULL VO.

They will need better voice actors for Tav. And MANY more options.

If they really plan to do full VO for all origins and Tav, I can hardly imagine they would add a decent selection of Tavs as well (though who knows at this point...).

If this is a preview of what is to be, and a bit of VO slipped through cracks, then that also shows why putting VO on custom characters might not be a great idea - that voice really doesn't fit the character that I had in mind.

I just hope they give us a separate sound slider for Tav so we don't have to hear some immersion breaking voice if we don't want to.

Ooh.. then we could make videos of our toon with a Chipmunk voice as a comedy play-through.

This line is in the game since the release of the EA. It doesn't really prove anything.

But if I had to guess, I would say voice-acted mc is very likely to happen

Tav MUST have a voice. The lack of voices is so much immersion breaking in many situation.

But ofc they'll have to create more than one male ande one female voice...

I don’t particularly care for having a full voice over for the main character, but holy fucking hell Larian, if you are going to make your protagonists silent at very least avoid having the camera lingering on them for ENTIRE seconds while they over-act mute reactions like an improvised mime.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

I see. I don't remember seeing Tav speak before in cutscenes.

I would find it odd for them to record and implement lines into conversation, if they don't intend having them at all.

They need at least 3-4 more voice types if they are going fully voiced.

If they can't commit to that, they should just leave Tav silent outside of point and click lines. And then have a big selection of voices for the point and click lines.

Having the wrong voice for your character is fatal. The voice defines the character just as much as appearance. And the existing two male and female voices are way too similar.

Customizer's Compendium mod on the Nexus includes additional voice types that I believe were uncovered in the game's files, an extra 2 voices per gender. I think Larian may be planning, or were planning (and changed their mind) to have fully voiced main characters but instead settled on the context-dialogue instead. Tav doesn't speak aloud in cutscenes unless they need to, with everything else being click-context. I'm okay with that, but I do wish they would go full voice-acted like Dragon Age Inquisition. I love having a main character I can relate to and care about, and part of that is built on voice acting (unless the actors suck). I like 3/4 of the female voices, and I only play female characters. Hate the 'lower class' female voice that sounds like she's never read a book in her life, though.

I would also enjoy fully voiced main characters . Then again I don't really care whether a voice "fits" the character or not. Some people do and would complain.

I actualy like how it is right now ... and honestly hope it will not change. :-/
Even curent state is in my eyes honestly slight downgrade from what it was in FIRST gameplay presentation, where specific lines we have now, was only common sentences describing what the sentence we say is about ... but dont give us the sentence itself.
I would understand that some people would find it odd at least ... but i like that when you were persuating someone, you could imagine your character say litteraly anything you want, instead of what Larian come with. :-/

But back to voice acting ...
For one i dont see much reason in voicing the exactly same sentence i just read in my mind ... the only situation where voice acting makes sence is when picking single dialogue options sets in motion several sentences on both sides ... but as non-native english speaker, or more like even non-english speaker, i kinda often pick some answer not fully understanding the meaning behind that, and then drop my jaw when something totally unexpected happens (especialy frustrating in games like Vampyr, that are autosaving after every decision in dialogue and dont support any other way of saving your progress -_- ) ...
So i gues i dont need to say that i find this system as worse shit BioWare ever invented (or popularized w/e) and really hope that Larian will never go that way.

For two, you need to understand that voice acting is actualy INCREDIBLY expensive ...
And honestly i would rather see litteraly anything else implemented, than this. :-/

And finaly there is that thing i did mentioned in first point ...
As you probably know, if you are talking person ... saying single sentence is possible in several different ways, accent, expresion, tone ... all that and much more are "integral part of the communication" ... and by voicing the sentence, they all are set and cant be moved. :-/
If you would like to make fully voiced character, you would need to record some mocking answer, some benevolent answer, some cruel answer, some ignorant answer, some fun-making answer, ... and i dunno what else ... for every single sentence you will be told by every single NPC. :-/
And even then you would have only single voice prepared. laugh Imagine if you want to give players at least 4 per gender. :-/

I agree. In many of the cinematics the camera lingers far to long on the mute protagonist just doing grimaces. To the point that it just looks comical in a situation that is supposed to the serious.
