The recent The-One-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, Deus Ex, but I had overall in mind exploration abilities in general - skills that allow for exploration rather then jump as well, but also hacking, lockpicking etc. depending on the game. Afterall, jump allows to access different routes or find secrets. Functionally, it is not much different then other barriers that require a "key" to progress - with "key" being unlocking door, speech check, hacking, crawling into vent.
