I had figured perhaps they had a limit of one creature per player character but you are correct.

And we all hope it will change to "one creature per player & type".
I dunno, feel free to corect me if im wrong ... but it makes sence to me that summoning undead as a Wizard, or pet as a Ranger, or i dunno ... mage hand as (as it seems) almost anything ... should not prevent me from maintaining my familar aswell. O_o
