I admittedly started with JRPGs rather than cRPGs, but I remember Baldur's Gate 1 being one of the first things I played upon the family getting a computer!
This is almost eerie. It was the same for me, although I'm probably at least half a generation older than you. I grew up in a developing country so no computer for me as a kid, and then after I came to the US for college I got to being able to afford a computer of my own only in grad school. And the very first game I bought for that very first computer, in 1998, was BG1.
