Not happening. wink

Welp, there are still Moontowers, where tadpoles are manufactured. Game doesn't end even when you free yourself, there are other problems to solve.

Concidering the fact that every option that was presented so far for every companion ...

What would keep them in your party? O_o
Note that they were just freed of the wery single thing that is forcing them to stay ...
And note that character would see others as incredibly dangerous ticking bomb ...

Good roll in Persuation or good relations would do. "You did everything you could for me, so I will help you further." Also nothing stops from "accidentally" bumping our party into party members which have left anyway. "I'll tolerate your presence a bit more, I really need to finish my business here."

Here is what I think Larian is doing.

1. Your tadpole is definitely different, like an alpha male/female tadpole. Notice how yours essentially influences everyone else's whether friend or foe. So, yours is more powerful and therefore likely more a part of you.

2. Therefore, if you die, your tadpole dies with you.

3. Whithers restores you to the condition you were in before you died. So, if infected before you died, you are infected still. Your tadpole is essentially a part of you now. Therefore, if you are resurrected, it is too.

4. If you haven't been dead that long, a Revivify scroll can resurrect you and your tadpole without Whithers. Again, since you and the tadpole are more one, if you die it dies and if you res it does too.

Doesn't this then have to be true for Origins characters' tadpoles too? By your logic: since origins characters' tadpoles die with them, their tadpoles must be different, like an alpha tadpole. This quickly spirals into unbelievability.

If us 6 all have alpha tadpoles, then it's very reasonable to believe that all captives on that mindflayer ship were given alpha tadpoles. After all, it is only luck that we 6 survived. And we saw dozens, if not hundreds of captives on that ship, which seems like way too many people to all be given "alpha tadpoles." Additionally, I feel like an "alpha tadpole-giving mindflayer ship" would be better defended than ours was...it honestly put up a pretty pathetic defense against the githyanki and devils.

The "fall" cinematic clearly shows supernatural protection interviening and preventing our PC from becoming a red splat on the beach. I assume more or less same happened for other survivors.

It does sound like convoluted and nonesensical plot device though, though there is an unlikely chance that there is a good reason for everything, and things will make sense once is more revealed.

True soul and gith seach for survivors of the ship, so it is not impossible that there was something special that the ship was doing, and it was targetted for that very reason.

There is one small problem. Our tadpoles ARE different, we can order some others infected BUT those parasites are definetly not Alpha. Beta or smth around that, but Alpha were in goblin's leaders, Absolute told to obey them, and if it wasn't for gityanki's box - we would obey. And Absolute would feel quality of our tadpoles - she doesn't treat us as smth valuable, just another portion of slaves.
Also for influencing - as we can influence friends - they can too. They do have same powers. It wasn't shown yet if they try it on us, as far as I have been, but that rifle on the wall must be ready to shoot.

I think if our tadpoles are meant to be different, they should put a short scene into the game which triggers the first time a party member dies.

Just a few lines making note of the fact that the tadpole doesn't leave the body. And then depending on whether this happens before or after meeting Edowin, some reactivity comparing the two different tadpoles in both scenes (whichever come second).

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is an intentional plot device - and that any Origin characters we kill or abandon in Act 1 will be coming back to haunt us later in the game.

Think about it. Gale doesn't even connect with you upon first meeting him. Something's different about his tadpole too. He obviously has one... right? He seems to indicate that he does at least, and there are incidences where he seems to share in your sufferings, especially if you take the evil path.

Shadowheart was specifically called out as a Beautiful Weapon by some mysterious voice. Like you, she is not called by the Absolute and drawn to Moonrise Towers, like other True Souls.

Astarion is a Vampire Spawn. That right there is special enough, but his tadpole is granting him special abilities like walking around in daylight.

Wyll is connected to Mizora, and the goblins were specifically told to take Mizora to Moonrise, so something's up with his and her tadpole, if she has one, too. It's special enough for them to be given special treatment. Again, none of these people are called by the Absolute to go to Moonrise to become mindless cultists of the Absolute. They are free to walk about and do their own things.

And Lae'zel. Hmmm. Not enough known about her. Either way, again, she's not mindlessly obeying the Absolute, like other True Souls. So it is likely that hers is just as special.

And then, yes, yours is like an alpha special tadpole. You can even mind control Ragzlin, controlling his interrogation of the Mind Flayer. Yes. I'd say your tadpole is quite special.

And as for all of you surviving the crash, I believe the Absolute spared them all because they ARE special. Like it was mentioned, the tadpole's powers glowed and saved you from crashing and dying on the beach. Shadowheart in Patch 5 is the same. You find her not far away lying on the beach. She likely also fell out before it landed.

And then, as if that isn't enough, Shadowheart is wielding some sort of Gith weapon that they delve into more in Patch 5. This weapon seems to help you suppress the Absolute's influence. So it must also have some sort of connection to why you are all so special.

So I'd say it is all rather believable that 6 individuals all with special tadpoles were saved BECAUSE some godlike smarty pants entities saved them because they WANT them to live and they WANT to use them for their own sick purposes.

OR Shadowheart was abducked by misstake ...
Nobody who is behind the scene thought that Githyanki will pursue her so hard ... (or maybe even didnt know they will pursue her at all)

And Nautiloid that was carrying another batch to Moonrise Towers ... he was simply caught in the middle of the crossfire. laugh
