I would say that you can roleplay your race ...
Sure, there are some responces missing ... especialy when talking to your companions, i would like to have more "and why would i care" or "dont bother" answers. :-/ But that is not matter of single race.
Umm, yes, it was specific. The OP already mentioned some details, no need to list them again. Why bother with an alien race, when it doesn't feel different from playing all the normal Faerun races.
