One of the more frustrating parts of the interface at the moment is that there is no differentiation between spells and abilities you can target and those that are self targeting only. For example, "second wind" can only be used on yourself, but you still have to actually target yourself to use it. I can kind of see this being a safeguard against using it unintentionally, but again this should be a toggle option rather than forced on those of us who would prefer to just click the button once to use it. Potions work with just a single click, and I'm just fine with that.
Additionally, certain spells should be updated to require less steps in the process. For example, the druid spell "produce flame" currently requires you to select the spell, then select yourself, then select "hurl cantrip", then select the target. That's four steps when other spells require only two. It's overly cumbersome when it should just work like every other spell that targets a monster. Perhaps it could be set up so that you select the spell and then yourself, it creates the persistent flame, or if you select another target it automatically "hurls" it.
There's just a lot of interface streamlining needed.
