What about an ingame editor called "the Blacksmith" where you can order your personal weapon with optional abilities and a design of your choice in exchange of some gold coins

This is a much better idea than buying from a limited OR (unlimited) set of items being proposed.
An even interesting idea would be ordering special weapons and armour that demands more than just money but rather other items to be included, which demands completing a quest. This reminds me of the dragonheart armour. So our ideas are not too far fetched, right?
In myth there are weapons forged by dwarves that needs the blood of a dragon in which the red hot sword, for example is hardened, thus, our Blacksmith might demand a jug supply of that dragon blood to make the weapon you ordered.
Another option is to embed magical gems in the handle of the weapon or in the armour different parts to enhance resistances or give offensive abilities to a weapon. A very special and enchanted green emerald could be the secret behind a poison (5) damage given to a weapon. A very special and enchanted red ruby could be the reason behind life drain ability. A very special and enchanted blue sapphire could be the way to make your weapon drain manna, and so forth. Each magical item might demand completing a randomly generated quest, which is much more rewarding than creating weapons by random generation as in .
What da-ya-think?
