Eh, it could be made more convenient. Then again, should it, really? To what point you can automatize and already-bareboned system until it becomes genuinely vestigial?
What next? Asking for a button that instantly recharge all your spells/abilities without even needing to rest/load/change map?
That said, in the end it's largely irrelevant and I'm still not sure why so many people keep complaining about it as if it was a meaningful part of the gameplay.
First things first, what about keeping just enough food for your NEXT rest in your bags to begin with, instead of sending EVERYTHING out to your stash? You don't even need to make some quick mental arithmetic and there is a explicit counter in the inventory window telling the players how many supplies they are carrying.
Second point, even assuming some miscalculation, is it really that big of an issue if when making one rest once every few hours of actual gameplay the player is asked to walk 20 fucking meters to his stash to pick up a bit of food (among the mountains probably stashed there at that point).
Of course it may be a problem if you are spamming a rest every five minutes, on the other hand.
Frankly I'd prioritize a great deal to have a better UI to swap party members in/out of the active party and to change their equipment when in a rest area.
THAT is a quality of life improvement that would make a far more significant difference.
