Except the new string people need to search and edit for patch 6 is #1157.

After all this talk about party size and formation i think i will play Icewind Dale again smile

My personal opinion to this is "yes please!" (5 would be ok for me, 6 being a bonus)

Tuco, I couldn't get the hack to work for me. I did find the correct DB entry and modified it from 4 to 6, but after saving the game and then attempting to load the game in BG3, I get a message when I start saying that the file is corrupted and then the game hangs. I saw that someone wrote a post that it might only work on a save with 3 or less in the party and tried that save, and the same thing happened. Others posted on Nexus indicating that they are having the same issue, so I don't feel that I did anything wrong. Any thoughts?

Yea but then you would need more companions. And it looks like Larian isnt going over 8...sadly. So a party of 4 makes sense. At 10 companions party of 5 would be great. etc...

Even for the poor D&D 5e ruleset there are more than 4 classes so why not more than 4 companions? So if we get 8 comp. a party of 5 would be possible. Maybe the problem is the chain char. navigation system of Larian? Change this too

If it's possible to do smoothly, then I'd prefer being able to travel with more companions also.

Mostly because it feels so silly when one of them tells me they'd like to travel with me to solve this big problem, but oh no, it looks like my group is full. I'm like, wait a minute, I'm only traveling with three other people. You can't join three people if it means getting that tadpole out of your head or (in the case of Wyll) if it means saving the tieflings?

Did you test if it makes any difference between DX11 or Vulkan? I'm currently using the former, for the record.
The warning message about tampering with files is never going away, by the way. It's one of the downsides of not having a native option from Larian I guess.
Because apparently they aren't just happy with denying to the user base what we are asking for, they also feel to urge keep nagging us about "doing unauthorized stuff".

Also, I had the same exact problem you are having with Patch 5 (even if in retrospective it may be related to the fact that I tried to edit a save while having a full party of 4 already, who knows...) but it's working smoothly for me in Patch 6, so I can't really help.

@Tuco, I'll give DX11 a try. I was using DX11 for P5, but when P6 came out switched over to Vulkan. I'll let people know if makes a difference.

Nope, it didn't make a difference. Save goes to about 60% and never moves. After 4-5 mins, I bailed on the game. This was my game save with only 3 party members and never had 4 yet. I did go back to my save from right after I dropped on the beach with no one in the party and the game still acted the same.
