I would really like to see an option to offer him something other than what he requests. I picked up an item which he commented about being able to use but at that point he didn't actually need it. I held on to it for him since I wasn't going to use it, waiting for the dialogue to give it to him. Later on I picked up another item which I definitely could use. Of course the next dialogue I get with him about needing stuff he asks for that one. There was no way to give him the item he commented about earlier.

I assume it's The Necromancy of Thay?

This sounds like a bug, and I'd recommend reporting it along with your save file if you can - Gale SHOULD give you a list of all appropriate items that you have on hand, and you can pick which one to give him. It's worked that way in the past, and I can only assume that that is still the intention.

The item he wanted was the Disintegrating Night Walkers. The item he mentioned being useful earlier I think was either Faithbreaker or the Sword of Justice.

Thanks, Niara. Didn't know this was a bug. I will try to go back and create a save file for them but will definitely report this.
