Both Web and Grease are only meant to explode spectacularly for more fun.
no. no they're not. just please. stop.
Are we playing the same game? Every time you try to control the battlefield with Web or Grease they somehow explode. It's a Larian game.
Correct, they do, almost every time. But to state that's their purpose is wrong. Their purpose, is to control the battlefield, and not by making enemies stop in awe of all the pretty fireworks.
Just because Larian don't understand or even show interest in learning a ruleset doesn't change that.
And, before people start spamming that burning the web is in fact a dnd rule. Yes it is. It's there so your opponent can make the option of getting rid of the obstacle by taking a bit of damage. Or so that you can choose to deal a bit of early AoE if several enemies are stuck in the web. That is a perfect example of why Larian should develop BG3 as they love that kind of stuff and knows how to make it visually pleasing. The fact that Larian gave grease the same treatment and changed chromatic orb to make surfaces are twp perfect examples why they shouldn't.
