Can we get Sneak attack to calculate automatically? Or, can we get a Sneak Attack toggle on/off, similar to Toggle Non-Lethal Attacks?

I don't see a time, when attacking as a rogue, I wouldn't want to use sneak attack. Having to press an extra button just seems unnecessary.

It would also make it possible to have sneak attack apply to off-hand attacks, or opportunity attacks, and whatever other times it's supposed to be able to be triggered.

Precisely. That's how it works at the Table top and Neverwinter Nights back in the day.

+1 Being able to sneak attack on off-hand (if your main-hand attack misses) and opportunity attacks are incredibly important for the rogue class. That's 95% of the reason why any rogue dual-wields.

I agree it should be automatic. I think they made it a separate ability because they want to give Rogues a button to press. However, with the new weaponskills this becomes less of an issue.
For visual feedback, just make the floating damage numbers say "(Sneak Attack!)" or something. Lots of other RPGs do that.

I agree with this sentiment.

But talking about weapon skills. They too should benefit from Sneak Attack.

I honestly dont quite understand why Rogue cant simply get "Sneak attack" resource, working just as Battle Master's Supperiority Dices ...
Meaning: Not consuming when you miss ... used as another resource for each and every possible attack empowered by that one.
And of course replenished every turn.

Since as far as i understand it, it should be aplicable for AOO aswell if you miss other attacks, or keep it for some reason ... doesnt it?

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown

It's actually applicable for AOO even if you didn't miss. The AOO happens on a different turn, and the rule for Sneak Attack reads "Once per turn" (anyone's turn):

Quote
Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an Attack if you have advantage on the Attack roll. The Attack must use a Finesse or a ranged weapon.

You don't need advantage on the Attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn't Incapacitated, and you don't have disadvantage on the Attack roll.

Hopefully this all gets implemented whenever they add reactions.
