I took a long hiatus from the game waiting for a more extensive patch before coming back. Finished Pathfinder Kingmaker finally and Outer Worlds. Yeah lots of backlogged games and never enough time. So coming back to new content was something I was looking forward to.
I found quite a bit of new (to me) content and enjoyed all the additional additions to the game. I don't feel like I dread every time I have to make a roll anymore and when I fail I no longer feel like it is a disproportionate amount of time. The graphics look much better, I actually got my 3090 to break a sweat occasionally (like around 55C, ok maybe that's more like warmed up). I feel like the characters have grown and almost don't recognize some of them. Overall, it was great progress and I think it's something to be proud of.
I know most people like the bad news first, but I also know that people hate it when you just start complaining to them. So, I went with honey up front and business talk after.
*****SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT****I have no intention of editing this either so I hope it comes out coherent the first time.
A bug I extensively messed with was the fact that every time I threw a alchemist fire at the wood woads in the hag swamp. It would lock up the game and I would have to either hard close it or sometimes I could get the load screen game to work. I tried it a least half a dozen times from a bunch of different angles, messed up every time.
The first comment is just the start of what I would explain as a physics and mesh issue throughout my entire 20 hours of playing. The new graphics look great, I played at native 4K, but the mesh and physics just don't play well together anywhere I went.
After I helped the druids defeat the shadow druids I got accused and attacked. I am assuming it was from the damage the shadow druids did to the lower level druids. I think there is a logic issue here where the game doesn't remember who damaged who, so you get blamed for anything that happens.
The bodies of fallen characters where displaced about 40% of the time. The nameplate stayed where they fell and I could access the body from the name plate, but the bodies would be inside of trees, in the ground, or just about anywhere. I think this is another issue with the bodies bouncing as the fall down at death then physics and meshes not playing well together.
I am not short in real life and so I don't understand this frustration first hand, but I do now thanks to the game. Why can't I get things on tall shelves? Some times the characters would step up on stuff sitting around and get it and other times the game just said can't reach. Very frustrating to have moved boxes in front of a shelf to reach up and get something and then the box you moved actually becomes an obstacle to getting to the shelf. Please either take everything off tall shelves, so it can be reached or just let the characters have a bit of additional reach. Can't short people stand on their tip-toes too?
My characters would occasionally plow through stuff on the ground and take big damage. I am not sure if this was an attempt to make the OP dropping of boxes on people like previous games, but the characters shouldn't be able to walk through things and then take damage because they broke them.
There is vision cone issues with multiple npcs, but Salazon was the worst that I found.
The Tarnished pendant in the Zhent cave can't be reached and it's on the second shelf. I was definitely in pick up range, like below my nipples.
Equipping a torch became pretty annoying. Every time I did it messed with the hot bar actions and I would have to reset them to the place I wanted upon re-equipping my weapon. I suggest if the hot bar is locked then just grey out the unavailable actions and don't remove them when load outs are changed.
This is still an issue from my 1st play though, but is still mildly annoying. If I loot everything off a NPC sometimes it still doesn't show empty.
I hit the short rest on accident a few times trying to get to something else, I would appreciate a confirmation button on the short rest action.
Throwing things, the imp flying, and sometimes jumping would cause the camera to hang on things and I could not see to do anything. No matter how I tried to move the camera it wouldn't unstick and I had to end the turn to get the camera to reset.
Ok, this one threw me for a bit of a loop. I was fighting Ragzlin and was up on the rafters. The NPCs knocked Wyll off and he fell through the floor and into a camp setting, then died. I mean he fell and completely wiped from level 4 full health, so I am pretty sure the game counted him as falling really far. The thing that puzzled me is that I hadn't unlocked Withers yet and the camp he fell in was a temple with Withers in it. I suspect that in the game that temple is located below Ragzlins area and when he fell though the floor he just kept going until he hit the next thing which was a camp set up that I had never seen before. So... more physics and mesh problems?
and last but certainly not least...projectile don't always follow the path shown and hit hit things never making it to the target. If that was part of the % chance to hit it would make sense if the miss actually misses graphically, but it seems that misses are announced and the graphic follow the path no matter what.
Ok, If you read all of this I hope it was helpful. I didn't make it to the underdark in this playthough, because I am going to hold off for a few more patches. I did get a bit frustrated by some of this stuff, so I want to wait till it gets worked out before exploring the shiny new area.
Keep up the good work!!!
